Chairman

David Leftley

David was Chief Engineer for Technology Evaluation and led Vodafone’s corporate venture team in Europe during his 14 years at Vodafone. In this time the fund was ranked in the top 5 CVCs, David was included in Wired Magazine’s top 100 innovators’ list and he was named as one of the most influential CVCs in the Global Corporate Venturing Powerlist 100.

He knows how to spot a commercial technology and test to ensure that it is defensible and disruptive. Starting in the defence industry he learned that with the right people and the right money anything is possible. He brings this invaluable expertise to Bloc and knows how to dig deep and personally look under the bonnet while understanding the commercial ramification of industry dynamics.

Director

Andrea Baldini

Andrea is a passionate and driven individual, with twenty years of global experience in venture capital, business and technology strategy, project and people management, research and development. He is versed and has ten years of experience in all aspects of venture capital investment, including deal screening and analysis, due diligence, investment negotiation and closing, portfolio monitoring, exit. He is Director of the Board in six European start-up companies, having sold one company to Cisco. Andrea has an MS in electrical engineering and computer science from University Illinois at Chicago (USA), a PhD in computer engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) and an MBA from INSEAD (Singapore and France). Andrea worked with Cisco in Silicon Valley from 2004 to 2011 and has been with Breed Reply since 2014.

Ian Jenks

Ian Jenks has over 30 years of experience in senior executive roles at technology companies. In addition to be a non-executive director at Zeetta Networks ltd., Ian is currently Chairman and CEO of Smartkem ltd, Chairman of Pyreos ltd, Chairman of Impression Technologies ltd, and a non-executive Director of Nexeon ltd, and Econic ltd and Zeetta.  He was previously Chairman of Swedish listed company Birdstep Technology ASA, Senior Independent Director of Paysafe plc and Chairman Brady plc all of which were sold to private equity. Ian spent a number of years based on the west coast of America where he was a partner in the venture capital fund, Crescendo Ventures LLP, Chairman of Oplink Communications Inc. and President of Uniphase Inc.

Vassilis Seferidis

Vassilis has over 25 years’ experience in Telecoms and Electronics. Previously, Vassilis was VP of Business Development for Samsung Electronics responsible for driving revenue growth and strategic development in Europe. He also held positions at BT, Toshiba, Philips, QIO Systems and British Standards Institute.  In 2011 he was included in the Euro50 list of the 50 most influential people in the European telecoms industry.  His academic qualifications include BSc in Physics, MSc in Telecoms, PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering and an MBA from City, University of London.

Non-Executive Director

Reza Nejabati

Reza is currently a full professor and head of High-Performance Network Group in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in University of Bristol. He has established successful and internationally recognized research activities in University of Bristol on “Software Defined Network”, “Network Virtualisation” and “Quantum Secured Networking”. Under his leadership, these research activities have been transformational and have done major contributions in open, programmable and quantum secured Telecom Infrastructure.

His research received the prestigious IEEE Charles Kao Award 2016. He has contributed to more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and several standardisation documents.

Vassilis Seferidis

Vassilis has over 25 years’ experience in Telecoms and Electronics. Interim CFO

Andrew Griffin

Andrew has worked with public and private technology companies to raise money and improve their operating models and is CFO of Bloc Ventures. Andrew understands the importance of rigorous financial management for all companies, an area which most start-ups either do not have the time, money or inclination to implement properly. Andrew spent 17 years in investment banking where he was a highly respected technology equity analyst, recognised as a No1 ranked semiconductor analyst in Europe, and was managing director of Merrill Lynch’s European technology research team. Andrew is a chartered accountant and has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton.

Anita Mistry

Anita has over 25 years’ experience in selling and marketing innovative products in the Enterprise and Service Provider market. Previously to joining Zeetta, Anita held senior management roles in companies ranging from multi-nationals to SMEs including Vendors, Resellers and Distribution).  Anita has a consistent track record of achieving targets, tactical goals and set objectives by providing creative ‘go to market’ strategies for complex and innovative products, solutions and services, particularly in challenging business situations. Furthermore, Anita has a great and varied insight into the Supply and Demand Chain of the IT Sector.

VP Engineering

Simon Pearcey

Simon Pearcey is an experienced senior leader with over 28 years of Telecommunications expertise.
He started his career with Marconi’s Research Centre, and most recently he was head of all R&D staff across the UK for Amdocs’ Open Network division, with product line leadership across a global team.
Along the way Simon has worked for AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Cisco, and successful start-ups including Aethos, IPWireless and Ubiquisys.
He has a successful track record of building high-performance teams, fostering innovation and delivering products into commercial acceptance.
Simon holds a BSc (hons) in Computer Science from the University of Essex.

Joan Garcia Espín

Joan Garcia Espín is experienced in telecoms and software engineering with passion for productisation of novel networking technologies. He has worked in R&D and innovation for over 17 years in top international projects on networks of the future.
Joan has also worked for the i2CAT Research Centre and Scytl in Barcelona and the Bristol Is Open smart city initiative before joining Zeetta.
Joan has an MSc in Telematics Engineering and a Master in Business Innovation and collaborates with the University of Bristol to mentor students as part of their entrepreneurship program.

Louise Brennan

Louise Brennan has over 23 years’ experience in leading telecommunications business operations in both large and start-up companies. She has worked at BT for over 23 years, responsible for managing one of BT’s largest international trading teams operating a 24-hour global service.
With a successful track record in developing teams, she has the natural ability to work alongside people so they achieve their maximum potential while introducing processes and structure to ensure operational excellence.
